How is it that the President is called a socialts for enacting Nixon's health care plan?

While the Democrats do not call the right-wing extremists fascists or even extremists? I am not the first to observe this, but it is still a puzzlement: the language has been captured by the far-right crazies, and almost everybody blindly follows their usage. Moreover, this at a time when the country as a whole is more liberal than ever in its history.
