Should all foods which contain tyramine have a warning label?
Tyramine is found in some foods and can be a problem in sensitive people. It is often found in fermented protein foods such as salami, cheese etc. Individuals on certain medications can suffer a hypertensive crisis (very high blood pressure with risk of stroke or coronary) when ingesting foods containing tyramine. In some individuals tyramine can cause migraine with visual disturbances which can be rather dangerous when operating machinery or driving.
