Removing a foggy haze off of my hardwood floors?

we just moved into our home and we have cherry hardwood in the kitchen and laundry room it has a foggy haze that i cant get up... I have tried pledge multi surface floor cleaner and that didnt work (looked good til it dried) then i resorted to dish soap that didnt work either... any suggestions?
